She is a ghost amongst the crowds, pale-faced and abstracted, tending to keep to herself unless spoken to. However, if her curiosity is piqued, she is not unlike a moth drawn to a flame.
𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐑… As a medicine woman with a penchant for experimentation and an admirer of all that belongs to nature, Nightwillow can be encountered scouring open fields and dense forests alike for medicinal herbs, flowers, and roots. Should she require peculiar or inordinary ingredients, she will venture unafraid into places considered perilous if needed.𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐓𝐇 & 𝐌𝐘𝐓𝐇… Nestled within the Jeweled Crozier, amongst the many other shops and stalls, is a small medicine shop called the Moth & Myth. From poultices to salves to amalgams, Nightwillow is a skilled alchemist that stocks her shop with myriad options for potential customers to select from. If said stock is lacking, though, she accepts custom orders.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄… Wherever Nightwillow goes, so too goes her faerie. Isveig is an outlandish creature, uninhibited when sharing her opinions and as curious as the Veena she effectively haunts. When there are present other individuals in the vicinity of the pair, Isveig glamours her form to appear as an ordinary crow. Those who are particularly perceptive to aether, though, may see past the disguise.

𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐄 | 𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐔𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋
𝐄𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐇… Though taciturn as she presents herself to be, Nightwillow is wholly and innately in-tune with emotions of those around her. This is not a quirk that solely belongs to her, however, as all members of the Fylgja possess this curious sensitivity. Like them, she commands both the knowledge and ability to wield emotion altering magicks—though, following the tenets of her people, she only seeks to utilize these magicks for altruistic purposes. Nightwillow does not openly speak of her abilities, but if she encounters individuals suffering from the maladies of the mind, she will extend a gentle offer to provide aid.

The Fylgja clan resides deep within the forests that span the foothills of the Skatay Range. These people possess a particular ability to sense and even alter the emotional and mental states of other intelligent beings, and they have developed magicks and rituals to bolster this attunement. The Fylgja themselves are rather unusual as a whole, often observed to keep faraway gazes and distracted manners of speech. A gentle sort of stupor seems to envelop each and every one of them, as if they are a world apart from the others that might find themselves in their company.


𝐕𝐀𝐋𝐔𝐄𝐒

𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄… The Fylgja revere the plentiful nature that surrounds them: trees, flowers, beasts, all of it. That of which they hunt for sustenance and materials is used in its entirety and, what they cannot find a use for, they bury to pay homage to the life in which they'd taken. Their village also boasts a significant wildflower population, and they all work diligently maintain it.𝐖𝐈𝐒𝐃𝐎𝐌… Integrity, patience, reflection—these core tenets drive the Fylgja in their interactions with every person of whom they come across. They seek to understand and, through understanding, foster peace and stability.𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄… The Green Word dictates that the forest and the abundant life within must be respected at all times. The forest is their cradle, their home, and their source of sustenance. To disrespect the forest is to earn swift punishment, even by the Fylgja that seem so disinclined to engage in conflict.

𝐏𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐄𝐒

𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐘… The Fylgja are soothers of the mind, individuals that guide their peers within and without their clan through times of mental duress and emotional uncertainty. While their methods are primarily practical, they also incorporate magical techniques, shamanistic rituals, resin-based incense, and herbal concoctions to better carry out their endeavors. Their foremost objective in wielding this sort of ability is to provide aid and comfort, but, with abilities such as these, there is always risk involved.𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐂 & 𝐑𝐔𝐍𝐄𝐒… All Fylgja can channel magic to varying degrees of potency dependent on the individual. Those who possess an innate talent for spellcasting are often inducted into the Fylgja druidic order to hone their aptitude. Additionally, each and every clan member, including the druids, are made to learn the methods of rune carving. Runes are a common sight in their settlement, and thus they can be found throughout their culture; often, they are carved into ornaments meant to be carried and utilized when the need arises.𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐌… As a tribe conditioned to living within a densely forested land, their knowledge of the collection and usage of native flora is well-versed. The Fylgja are experts in creating herbal remedies for various illnesses that they use either for own well-being or in bartering with local clans.𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 & 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆… The dietary staples of the Fylgja include wild grasses, edible mosses, and meat, though they take great care to not impact the population of the local wildlife. They are also particularly fond of a wide variety of berries, especially bilberries and lingonberries.𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐂 & 𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐆… Musical instruments and dancing play a major part in rituals, ceremonies, and recreational purposes. The Fylgja fashion their instruments from what is naturally found around them including the bones and intestines of fallen animals. Common instruments include flutes, drums, and harps. Their most favored instrument is the tagelharpa.𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆… Twice daily, the Fylgja cleanse their bodies within the lake in which they reside beside, once after waking and again before sleeping. In addition, all tools utilized in hunting are cleaned in those same waters and then laid out within their encampments to “rest” from taking the lives of prey.

𝐁𝐄𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐈𝐎𝐑

𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐔𝐒𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐀𝐑… Those belonging to the Fylgja are neither diurnal nor nocturnal. Rather, they tend to rise when the sun is beginning to descend, and they thereafter attend their daily activities. As a result, they do not see much in the way of sunlight, and so their skintones tend to lean toward paler hues.

𝐒𝐎𝐂𝐈𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐋 𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐄𝐒

𝐒𝐄𝐄𝐑𝐒… Diviners of the Green Word, these women, known as draumkona, of the Fylgja interpret the voice and will of the Green Word. They are experts in rune-carving, pathomancy, and all ritual practices that the Fylgja commonly utilize.𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐎𝐑𝐒… Known as Wood-warders in other Viera clans, the þokastríðsmaðr—or mist warriors—are the guardians of both the clan and the forest. They are, as is typical, comprised of male Viera, but there are some few women who have joined their ranks. Additionally, their jacks are allowed to come and go from the village as needed. This idiosyncrasy is likely owed to their innate—and preternatural—empathy.

𝐏𝐇𝐘𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐘

𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒… The eyes of Fylgja trend toward earthern tones and neutral colors including browns and grays but, every so often, a child is born with blue or green eyes.𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐍… As they do not often or for long see the light of day, all the Fylgja have pale skin.𝐇𝐀𝐈𝐑… The hair colors of the Fylgja range from a dusky brown to a deep gray-brown with medium texture and semi-coarse strands.𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 & 𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒… The Viera of the Fylgja clan possess tall, lagomorph ears as typical for their race and short, furred tails.𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐇 & 𝐍𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒… In these traits do the physiology of the Fylgja take a departure from the norm for Viera. All Fylgja bear sharp cuspids and their fingers are ended in claws.
